Is 1DS model-specific or used across several vehicles?

1DS — Reserve For Emission Use. This code identifies the factory fuel-system, emissions, or exhaust configuration. Browse Sales Code codes →

I have seen 1DS described as “Reserve For Emission Use. This code identifies the factory fuel-system, emissions, or exhaust configuration” but another database uses slightly different wording. Is this normally because the meaning changes by platform, market, or model year?

I have seen this on a similar Chrysler Pacifica. The basic description was correct, but one related feature was part of a separate package. I would not assume the code includes every item mentioned in marketing material.

For a retrofit, check the modules, wiring connectors, software configuration, and compatible part numbers first. Installing the visible component alone may not make the feature operational.

Check the production month as well as the model year. Mid-year changes are one reason two vehicles with the same badge can have different hardware or descriptions.

The safest interpretation is the one tied to the exact VIN, model year, platform, and market. In general, 1DS matches “Reserve For Emission Use. This code identifies the factory fuel-system, emissions, or exhaust configuration” but the included hardware can vary between applications.

I would avoid buying retrofit parts until the connectors and module support are confirmed. Returning electronic or VIN-programmed components can be difficult.

That code should be read as a factory configuration identifier, not necessarily a guarantee of a separate dashboard control. Some equipment operates automatically or is bundled with another system.
